今年的中秋庆祝活动移到克拉码头，再配合台南美食节，我们怎么能够错过？趁着今天是公共假日，我们就去凑热闹了。
比起裕华园的中秋灯节，克拉码头的规模小太多太多了。但是，整个克拉码头车水马龙的，美丽的灯饰映在河面上，真的很漂亮，也很有节日的气氛！比起裕华园，克拉码头多了一份凉意，多了一份历史，多了一份亲切。
在孕育着新加坡的河流旁边庆祝中秋节，让人想起时间的长河。100多年前，因为我们的先辈在这条河旁奋斗，我们今天才可以在这里庆祝中秋节。
突然，我心里萌起了“千里共婵娟”。

克拉码头的中秋
我们都一直在缅怀当年到裕华园庆中秋赏花灯的情景。去年听说是因为不景气，所以裕华园就寂寞地和嫦娥一起过节了。

克拉码头台南美食节
老娘昨天去刺探军情之后，今天就拉了老的和小的，硬是要到克拉码头的台南美食节去。
今天去到，差点晕倒。晕倒的原因有三。（一）所有让我午夜梦回都猛流口水的台湾小吃，全部全部都集中在这里！（二）人、山、人、海、到、你、会、发、飙。（三）差点被臭豆腐的臭味熏死。
我本着拼死都要吃到的精神，先去排队买固本，然后就巡视所有的摊位一遍，看看我该买什么才能够用完我的$10的固本。别误会，不是食物便宜到$10用不完，而是有些东西是$6，有些是$3，有些是$5等等，我看看我该“投注”在哪些食物，才能物尽其用。
后来，我找到两样我最爱最吃的东西--炸虾卷还有棺材板！刚好一份是$5，我刚好可以用完我的固本！
我找到了排队买虾卷的人龙的尾端后，就耐心地排队。终于，等了20分钟左右，我终于把热腾腾的虾卷捧在手心里了！我本来要再排队买棺材板后跟老公一起吃的，但是那里的人实在太多了，我怕人来人往的把我辛辛苦苦排回来的虾卷撞到地上去，我就立刻吞了两条，然后sms老公叫他来拿走虾卷，我继续排队买棺材板。
我告诉你，这个虾卷和棺材板真的是好吃到没话讲。士林夜市的棺材板根本比不上这摊的！我6月才去士林夜市吃了棺材板，对那味道记忆犹新。所以，我很肯定，克拉码头的这摊棺材板真的是---赞！*竖起大拇指*。 虾卷夜市很好吃，但是我觉得稍贵了一点。在淡水有个“阿香虾卷”，也是特好吃的，才卖NT35，这里卖$5，我觉得有点贵。但是话说回来，里面的馅料是绝对真材和实料，满满的都是虾肉。嗯，好，我收回刚才的评语。$5是合理的。
可惜的是，人真的太多了。你没看到那排队买蛤仔煎的队伍，简直就是看不到尽头！
还是先保留实力，12月再到台北去，治疗我的台湾小吃相思之苦！Wednesday, September 8
Jaimie Is Going To Read
We have been wanting to sign Jaimie up for the "I Can Read" and since she is now 4.5yo, we think this might be a good time to start her on the literacy program.
I booked an appointment with one of the centres to go for a pre-test so that the teachers can put her in an appropriate program based on her ability and background knowledge.
The assessment began the moment we went inside the room. The teacher spoke to Jaimie, asked her for her name, birthday etc and asked Jaimie to read out the letters randomly on a poster. Then, she was asked to name some of the objects on the poster and then she was asked to pronounce some first sounds. Jaimie could do all of that, to my surprise!! After that, the teacher gave Jaimie some random sounds and asked her to break it down. Jaimie was not very good at that. She could only blend 3 sounds and most of them were only close. She did get one out of 7 correct, though! :D
The teacher put her in the PRP level and commented that she has relatively good knowledge of phonics. He also commented that Jaimie might be able to move on to the next level by early next year! He was also surprised that Jaimie could speak English very well although we primarily speak in Mandarin at home.
I was so proud of Jaimie and was beaming with pride~~ however, Jaimie needs to learn to sit down in the class. She keeps walking around the classroom when I was talking to the teacher. :( That was noted down too as it was part of the assessment of the child.
Well done, Jaimie!! I hope that with the program, Jaimie will be able to read on her own soon! Reading is the door to the world of knowledge! (p/s: then she will not bother us anymore when she can read independently. Heh heh heh. Opps!)

Bento #136 (and the photoshoot session with Young Parents)
The Young Parents magazine interviewed me some time back and finally it's the photo shooting session! The interview will be published in the October issue.
This would be Jaimie's dinner!
They even have a professional makeup artist for the shoot!

Jaimie's First Visit To The Dentist
After the crazy Teacher-Mommy gathering session in the late morning, we got a lift from Wolfgirl to City Square Mall to visit the dentist in Q&M. It's Jaimie's turn to see the dentist, for the very first time!
She was very nervous when we reached there and she even wanted to back out the last minute. I had prep-talked her for a few days but she was still afraid. Since we were early for our appointment, I asked the receptionist if I could show Jaimie the children's dental room to further prepare her. Jaimie was much more at ease after she saw the room matches what I described to her, and perhaps even better than she imagined. There was a play area for kids at the reception area. Jaimie made herself very comfortable there and was totally relaxed.
When the dentist, Dr Clement Eng (please note the surname is different from ours. The Clement in my family doesn't moonlight, ok?) appeared, Jaimie wanted to back out again. Dr Eng was very fast and very good in engaging in small talks with Jaimie. This got her quite distracted and started walking along with him to the consultation room. It took her some time and courage to lay on the chair. By the way, Dr Eng is also my dentist and Clement Ng's.
Jaimie was very reluctant and nervous. I can totally understand, my dear princess!! Even the Barney video couldn't distract her very much.
After a "High 5 balloon" (made from the rubber glove!) and more friendly conversations with Dr Eng, Jaimie was more at ease and was willing to put on her shades. A good start!
Then, Dr Eng demonstrated on Jaimie's nails to show her the action and sensation that she would be experiencing later.
I am not sure if you have heard of the riddle "How can one whistle and brush his teeth at the same time" (Ans: he is brushing his denture) but Jaimie was polishing her teeth and talking NON-STOP at the same time! She was telling Dr Eng her favourite food, her favourite cartoon characters and describing what's "Bing and Bong" to him. Dr Eng, on the other hand, was entertaining Jaimie while educating her on good oral hygiene practices.
Jaimie was so pleased to see her "Princessy Pearlie Whites" because Dr Eng said only Shrek has ugly and dirty teeth, princesses have beautiful white teeth. Jaimie happened to re-watch Shrek recently and she agreed with him fully.

The visit lasted about 45mins and it cost $80+++. It's quite alright and I highly recommend Dr Clement Eng's service. He is very young (only 28!! I asked, because Clement NG and I had a bet on his age) but his professional knowledge is so good that Clement NG guessed Clment ENG is 45 years old! Clement ENG nearly freaked out when he heard it.
Guess who was Jaimie talking to? Rain Tan! She was sharing her experience at the dentist with her best friend! She urged Rain to visit the dentist as it was "not scary and not painful". She also told Rain "there's no need to cry. must be brave!" It's so funny to listen to them talk! Eh, don't look at me like that. I am not eavesdropping ok!
We are so proud of Jaimie for going through her first dental checkup so bravely! Well done, my darling!!!

Teachers' Day 2010 (Food and Fun Day)
When you do things together with your friends, the fun gets multiplied. After the 2nd fun art session, the group of us calls for an art session for our monthly gathering. As daddies are not invited to this special mother-and-child-cum-teachers'-gathering-cum-celebration-of-WG's-big-promotion, I took the MRT to Clarke Quay with Jaimie in the morning. While walking from the MRT to Liang Court, Jaimie got very distracted by the beautiful lantern decorations. Ahh~ I almost forgot that the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming up!
Viv baked the teacher-mommies muffins as teachers' day gifts! Thank you, my dear friend, for always making something for us every Teachers' Day.
While we "deposit our kids" with Elaine for the art session, we entertained ourselves by taking silly photos. We were behaving like children. Surely nobody will suspect that we are teachers...
Yeah! That's us!

We can't believe it has been that long!
When we go out with our children, we can still look graceful, sometimes.
Most of the time we are Siow Char Boh.
Because we have to manage 1001 things at the same time! We have to be the 1000-hand Buddha, you know!
The kids are so coordinated. They chose bees, flowers and butterflies...
We had a good time and the children had lots of fun! Thanks, Elaine!! :) We'll see you again in the next holiday!
Then, we adjourned to Streets Hong Kong Cafe for lunch. Wolfgirl giving a treat because she has a big promotion!! Congrats, my dear friend!! And thanks for the yummy lunch!
This was hilarious. The kids (actually, it's Jaimie and Rain) suddenly broke into the Hokkien song "Wah Meng Tee", the theme song from the Taiwan drama "Love" aired every Saturday for the past few years. They were singing so loudly and even swinging their bodies to the melody! O.M.G.
After lunch, Joyce had to go off first. The 3 of us took a "stroll" in the supermarket. The crazy mommies went crazy again by doing a "trolley race" along the aisles. Gosh... I am glad we were not thrown out of the supermarket. I hope we were not being Stomped too. Hahahaha~~~!!
This is really a fun and crazy day!!!
