Well, signing her up for the swimming lessons was an impromptu thing. We were swimming in the pool when the instructor whom we always see asked if Jaimie wanted to join his class because he has a new class for toddlers. So we said "ok!". That was it.
Jaimie was totally unprepared psychologically and physically. She was extremely reluctant to go for the swimming class. She cried and protested and of course we didn't give in. She didn't have her goggles either but our neighbour, Chloe, who is the same age as Jaimie, is in the swimming class too and her mom kindly lent Jaimie a pair of goggles.
The pictures below showed how much Jaimie enjoyed her first swimming lesson.

Now you know why I put inverted commas on the word "Swimming lesson". Jaimie didn't participate at all. In fact, she kept her distance from the teacher and the classmates. She was in all tears for the entire hour.
Mr Lee was very kind. After the disastrous hour, he told me he'll arrange one-to-one half hour session with Jaimie for a few times to coach her so that she becomes more confident and comfortable to join a group. The first "remedial" will be today.
We went to Kiddy Palace after our dinner to get goggles and a thermal swimsuit for the future Jocelyn Yeo (NB: The future Tao-Li is Rain Tan Renee). I am keeping my fingers crossed that Jaimie will be more prepared for her swimming lesson today.

Maybe it was a bit of a shock to her....poor thing. Am sure she'll be fine after a couple of individual lessons. Did she vomit because she was traumatized?
ya.... RR saw the pics but could not recognise Jaimie.
Maybe she will need the full apparels so that she felt 'belonged' and 'prepared'. (goggles and cap)
First timers are like that. RR has a 'classmates' (4 year plus) who is still crying on her 2nd lesson.
Aiyoh, maybe Jaimie just don't like the look of the instructor? (not handsome enough lah) ^_^

Alamak, poor thing! I don't think I've seen Jaimie cry until so cham before (from your pics lah). Ya lah, she wasn't mentally prepared. Hopefully it'll get better!

I thought i read wrongly that "Jaimie enjoyed her first swimming lesson" when I see her cried like that... think this is the 1st time I see her crying pics, so "jiak luck" that i wanted to go hughug her, hehe..
I thought she likes the pool? Probably she was frightened by Mr. Lee - a stranger(plus his look! :P)... if she still cry like that for the "remedial" class then this must be it... can Daddy teach instead?

Thanks! The instructor is not handsome (ahem!) but he is not a total stranger. We have seen him ard the pool for a long time and jaimie recognises him and happily calls him "teacher!!" everytime. she is now at a stage whereby she is reluctant to try new things-- be it food or games. :)
Not sure if the vomit has anything to do with the trauma but she's ok today. She just fell asleep.. we'll see how.

Just to share...somehow, girls like women coaches better than men, especially at this age..hehe. : P
Yeah, a few more lessons...i believe she will be able to overcome her fears, but again if she's really against the swimming lesson idea, then perhaps can stop for a while. Don't instill fear into her,esp for this fun sport.
When time is right, she will beg you for the lessons...haha.
