Picnic and Concert @ Botanic Gardens

We went to the Singapore Botanic Gardens to catch the Singapore Chinese Orchestra & New York Philharmonic Principal Brass @ the Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage with Clement's brother and family.

Alright. I must confess. I had another opened another window in my laptop to google for the name of the event we went in the evening. When my sister in law asked me to join them for XXXX at YYYY and that we'll have a picnic, I just said "YES!!" without paying attention to what is X and Y. The only word that registered in my head is "picnic".

My sister in law and I both had great plans on the food items for the picnic. We thought of frying udon, making sandwiches etc. In the end, we minimised it to "just buy some convenient food and finger food, lah".

Here's the family pic of my brother in law's family.
That's us.
I bought sushi and baked some seaweed chicken. My sister in law bought chicken wings and hotdogs from Ikea but she played cheat. She transferred them into the lock-and-lock boxes and made them looked like home made.

Jaimie and cousin Kai-kai.

Clement's brother and son.

Clement and daughter.

Jaimie is KaiKai's "role model". He copies what Jaimie does and repeats what Jaimie says. No wonder Jaimie enjoys being the jie-jie.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra kicked off the performance. I must say I enjoyed the music quite a lot! Jaimie broke into her dance again once she heard music. It was quite amusing to see her twisting her body and moving her hands in Chinese cultural dance style! I think if I were to give her an apron and a drum, she would be able to do "凤阳花鼓". Funny~ I really wonder how come she could do cultural dancing??

The brass band had a delayed flight from Hanoi and they were very late. The Chinese Orchestra had to buy time for them by introducing the different instruments in a Chinese Orchestra, called for an encore for themselves while 5 members of the band rushed down from Changi Airport.

Well, I really could not appreciate the music although it was performed by a renowned band. Jaimie found that she could not dance to their music either so she started disturbing the other audience and playing with their dogs. Kaikai followed, of course.

We decided to leave before the end of the performance firstly to avoid the crowd and secondly before the dogs behind us got irritated by the assault of the 2 toddlers. This is the first time Jaimie goes outdoor to play with her cousin and I think we should arrange more of such outings!
