Mickey Mouse Meet and Greet @T3

I thought the Mickey Mouse meet and greet only happened at 3.30pm in T3 so when Clement told me there was actually 2 more sessions at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, we wasted no time in going down to T3 after Jaimie woke up from her afternoon nap, hoping to catch the 5.30pm session.

When we reached T3 at 4.40pm, we thought that the lantern display at Level 1 was where the photograhy session going to be held and we were glad that there was no queue. We went around taking photos and then at 5.20pm, we heard the MC talking from the basement! By then, the queue for the 5.30pm session was full and we were advised to wait for the 7.30pm session instead.

See the pic below. This was the queue at 6.20pm, if you can figure out where was the beginning of the queue. I quickly joined the queue and asked Clement to bring Jaimie around while waiting.

That was the queue behind me at 6.45pm.

Something terrible happened while I was queuing.

You see, there were quite a few families who made their maids wait in the queue while they went somewhere else and joined the queue later. The maid who was in front of me smiled at me. No, it wasn't just a friendly gesture. It was a "so-you-are-also-the-maid-made-to-wait-in-the-queue-while-your-mom-is-drinking-coffee-somewhere-sigh-we-are-in-the-same-boat" smile. I was totally shocked and speechless so I quickly messaged Clement and told him what happened.

When Clement came back, I told him what happened again. He made some careful observation and then told me that the maids have got 6 distinct characteristics. (1) they have short hair (2) they wear t-shirts (3) they wear jeans (4) they do not wear make up (5) they do not wear glasses (6)wear slippers.

Upon hearing that, I was in deeper shock! Because I (1) just cut my hair short (2) +(3) always wear tshirts and jeans on weekends for convenience (4) wants to give my skin a breather on weekends (5) did lasik last year (6)wearing slippers.

NO WONDER I WAS MISTAKEN AS A MAID BY ANOTHER MAID!!!!! *thunder clapping*

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I immediately vowed to (1) put on make up on weekends (2) not wear tshirts on weekends in the future!

*loud sigh*

Anyway, the queue moved quite fast once the photography session began. We passed our SLR to one of the working staff and he helped us took a picture too. We waited for less than 20mins for our complimentary photo to be printed out. That was faster than we anticipated.

Nee Nah Nee Nah...

Jaimie has this Masiy book. The sound of the fire engine, as described in the book, is "nee nah nee nah". She gets quite excited when she sees a real fire engine on the road and she'll go "nee nah nee nah".

Clement loves the fire engine and the fire fighting thingy due to the nature of his job. He has been wanting to bring Jaimie to the Civil Defence Heritage Gallery to see/ sit on a "nee nah nee nah". Since we were at UE Sq this morning, we walked over to High Street, where the Central Fire Station and the Heritage Gallery is, to fulfill these 2 peoples' wishes.

Inside the gallery was an old telephone. It has no access to the Matrix but there was a recorded message to tell you about how a telephone helped the fire brigade to respond faster to incidents in the olden days.

I almost forgot that the fire fighting squad used to be called the "Singapore Fire Brigade". Now it is all under SCDF.

On the 2nd floor is an exhibit of the SCDF rescue force.

There is a children's corner for them to "copy" the picture. Just put a piece of paper on these metal plates and colour on them lightly with a pencil. The picture will be traced out on the paper. I am sure we all did this using coins when we were in primary school. :)

Fire fighters are very brave people and they risked their lives to save lives.

I salute all fire fighters!

Izzy's Kitty Carnival Japan Wonderland Birthday Party

Our friend Meekfreek invited us to go to Izzy's 2 year old party. We love going to her parties because they are always so much fun and food. Last year was Hawaiian theme and this year it is Kitty Carnival Japan Wonderland. Needless to say, the kids have to dress to the theme!

I borrowed this Hello Kitty yukata from my best friend, HappyPig, months ago, just for this occasion. To complete the look, Jaimie has got a Japanese styled Kitty bag and Kitty hairclips too! Errr... I overlooked the shoes. =_= She was extremely excited about the party!

I realised that I didn't take many pictures during the party, which was a shame. The decoration was simply beautiful and the kids were having so much fun with the songs session, the balloons, the playground and in one another's company. I was busy chatting with the mommies and enjoying myself too!

I heard that this cake was really expensive! It was SOOOOO beautiful that it was just so tempting to touch the Hello Kitties and the castle! In the end, Diana volunteered to be the "guardian" for the cake and stopped all kids (and adults) from touching this lovely cake.

We had so much fun and so much food... Jaimie even had a Kitty balloon to bring home! She loved it so much that she was still playing with it when we got home.

My Art Portfolio II

My teacher gave mommy my Art Portfolio to take home for filing on Friday. This time I took back the art pieces and worksheets I did from Oct- Dec.

I am done with A-Z.

I learnt to count in school. Actually, I already knew how to. :)

This is my favourite DIY "duckie fan". My teacher taught me to sing a nursery rhyme in Mandarin. I kept singing it until my daddy and mommy knew how to sing too.

A Self Reflection

I do notice that I am getting more impatient with Jaimie lately, who is a-little-crankier-than-usual.

Nowadays she is into whining and pretending to cry as a way to protest. The whining part gets me in my nerves and the most convenient way for me to react is to shout at her and asked her to shut up. If she doesn't stop her nonsense in 5 seconds' time, I will be so tempted to whack her with my hand. And sometimes I did. Clement will be very patient trying to talk sense to Jaimie and I will snap at him and ask him why is he spoiling his daughter.

For the past few nights, Jaimie hasn't been sleeping too well. She would cry in the middle of the night. I asked her a few standart questions like, do you want to go to the toilet? Do you want milk? If the answers are negative, I will bark at her and ask her to go back to sleep. While Clement will be the one who is very patiently rocking Jaimie and consoling her, I will turn my body to backface them and cover my ears with my pillows.

I feel bad, actually.

And I am truly appreciative Jaimie's very patient daddy. Clement has always been the very patient one when it comes to handling Jaimie.

I asked Clement how does he manage to keep his cool with all the whining and crying. He said there was no reason to be angry with a child who didn't do anything wrong deliberately. That sounds very logical to me. And I am also thankful that Clement is also very patient with an impatient wife. He never snaps at me or reprimanded me for being "nasty". Instead, he just took over the situation so that I have some space to cool down. It was yesterday when I saw him lying on the bed, dozing off before Jaimie did in the afternoon that I realised how tired he was handling the 2 crazy girls at home.

My new year resolution: BE A MORE PATIENT MOMMY.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Recently, I taught Jaimie the word “帅”, which means handsome. To teach her the difference between "beautiful"（美） and "handsome"（帅）, I asked Jaimie who is good looking and who is not.

The verdict...
I am pretty. Clement is not. Uncle Jackie is handsome, Ezra is not. Cherrlyn mei-mei, Rain mei-mei and Izzy mei-mei are pretty, nai-nai (grandma) is not. Jaimie is, but of course, very pretty. =_=

When asked who is more handsome...
Uncle Jackie is MORE HANDSOME than daddy.
Unlce Jackie is MORE HANDSOME than Ezra.
Kow-fu (my brother) is MORE HANDSOME than daddy.
Uncle Jackie is AS HANDSOME AS Uncle Jeff.

The conclusion...
Daddy is not 帅.

PERIOD.

Art and Craft @Vivocity

It was raining heavily this morning but it didn't stop us from going to Vivocity for an Art Competition, organised by these people.

Round One: Parent and Child Playdoh making competition

Each child was given some playdoh. The original intention was for the child to knead and play but it ended up the parents enjoying it more. Hence it became a competition among the adults instead. The children were there as decoys.

There was no entry from Viv and Ezra because Viv was making food from play dough. From french fries to waffles to doughnut. All the "food" was eaten up by hungry Jaimie.

Disqualified: Izzy came a little late and she was not aware of the competition going on. Her mommy was busy taking photos while her daddy went to buy tar sa pia to share with all of us. However, Izzy's work was given a special mention prize because she used her shoes to print out the patterns on the playdoh instead of using the normal tools. Very creative!

Izzy started with a paint brush but decided that it was faster and more fun using her hands.

RTR and Wolfgirl left after washing up because RTR is going to Shanghai to look for business opportunities tomorrow. The other chaps were trying to find opportunities as fashion models for Pumkin Patch Kids.
