DIY Pictorial Book For Jaimie

Honestly, I find it more difficult to find an appropriate Chinese pictorial book for Jaimie from the library than an English book. I find the books either too wordy or the stories unsuitable. There are a few good ones but most of them are too difficult.

I was clearing my cupboard today and I found many unused notebooks lying around. I thought I would bring them home for Jaimie to doodle on them but suddenly an idea struck me! I can make my own pictorial book for Jaimie!

I googled for a while and chanced upon this really simple and nice story which many of us might have received via email from our friends. The story reminds us to be patient to our parents just like they were so patient with us when we were young. The graphic was simple and the wordings are simple. Jaimie is not going to learn to recognise the chinese characters from reading the comics but it's just my personal preference. I prefer books with not so many words so that the picture looks "clean".

I printed out the pictures and stick them on the notebook. This is how it looks.

Jaimie was quite excited when I read the story to her. She requested me to read it to her 3 times consecutively. I think she'll soon be able to tell me the story instead. She is quite good at weaving stories.

I can easily put the notebook in my handbag and spend 5mins reading to her while waiting for food to be served. I can also add on more stories when I find somemore appropriate stories.

I thought this is quite a good idea and perhaps mommies out there can try too! I am sorry I cannot provide the web address where I found the comic as seen in the pictures. Just try googling for 儿童图画 and other related keywords to find them.

If you happen to chance upon good pictorial sotries for children, do share with me! :D

TIA.

I went to the library the other day and can't find any suitable ones for Beanie. Now I know what to do ;) Hopefully I have time to do it soon.
